It’s 2005 and Smile Music is celebrating its 10 th birthday. The last 10 years have seen many changes and steady growth within the company. The biggest change to date is probably in the company’s ownership, as Smile is now solely owned by its original founder Mark Turner.

10 years ago the company began as a vehicle to place and promote my own original material, together with 2 writer/producer friends. However within a few short months Smile had amassed a catalogue of over 250 songs, with songs being placed in the UK/Germany/USA. This attracted the attention of Germany ’s Roba Music, and within 200 days of beginning Smile, a lucrative world wide sub-publishing deal with Roba Music (undoubtedly one of Europe ’s largest independent publishers) was signed.

In working closely with Roba Music for 3 years, Smile gained covers in all territories, but decided once the term had expired with Roba, to again go it alone, feeling more comfortable being back to 100% independent.

Smile now has partners/representation in all world wide territories, which collect/administer and promote the catalogue. Our main partners being:

3. Flipper ( Italy )
4. Fujipacific ( Asia )
5. Roba Music ( Germany )
6. David Gresham ( South Africa )

Smile also places material within the TV/Film Industry, and Smile copyrights can be heard world wide, with uses ranging from; major television soaps in the UK, shoe adverts in Italy, to films and documentaries in the USA/Asia.

Our business naturally is all about placing material, which means working closely with our songwriters and overseas partners, looking to find the right material for any given project. Our client’s success is our success.

Always having the approach of moving forward, and building on previous success Smile continues to expand its catalogue and develop new contacts and new areas of exploitation. With this in mind 24/7 Management was created in 2003, which now has a current roster of 4 artists.
